A lazy week

Work has been slow for me this week, which leaves me with no excuse for not blogging. So I enjoyed a couple days off; one cause there was no work and one cause my mom was in town visiting. It was great to spend some time with her; we spend Wednesday gallivanting about the countryside, starting with a visit to Celebration Park, which is a archeological site located south of Melba on the Snake River. Lots of very cool petroglyphs, or rock etchings, dating from the Ice Age all the way to the tribal people times. I forgot to bring my digital camera since we had to be there at the butt crack off dawn (9am) for the guided tour before it got too hot. I’m still on college student time. Also saw lots of cool birds flying around, like blue herons, eagles, hawks, and pelicans.

On the way back Mom and I stopped at some fruit stands to get some local produce. We bought sweet corn fresh picked that morning from the neatest old farmer guy in the valley. His truck was parked a few miles south of the freeway on Meridian road. When I run out of corn I’m heading back over there for more. He was one of those people who interacting with gives your whole day a sort of sunshiny feel simply because of his good nature and cheerfulness. He was the complete opposite of the counter girl at the Kuna Roastere (yes, there’s more than one) where we stopped for some liquid caffeine refreshment. This girl, obviously a high schooler filled with bitterness at being stuck in Kuna, took ten minutes to make two simple blended ice coffees, and was grumpy the whole time. And then she forgot to put the Kahlua flavor in mine. Ah, how I miss the ACI student baristas at the Caldwell Roastere… they were superior frappe makers, that’s for sure.

Wednesday night: Bowling Night at Nampa Bowl

Overview of the Talent: not so hot this time around, all of us suffered some bad and mediocre games, with a few good ones tossed in. Recognition goes out to Sarah for dominating one of the games by a sizable margin.

Significant Moment of the Evening: Arzhang’s Last Roll. That’s right, this was our last bowling night with all 5 of us faithful Dollar Nighters after a stretch of over 7 months, as Arzhang is heading off to medical school. Good luck Arzhang! It won’t be the same without you. Although I have a feeling we’ll bowl together again, Slashmaster!

Well, I’m off to the store to get some essentials for the Fallahi Send-off Weekend Extravaganza. And after that, perhaps a nap… I’ll have to save my strength, as I have a feeling the festivities will run late!
