Happy (Un)Turkey Day Everyone!

Ahhh, I love four day weekends! I’ve really been enjoying my job as a developmental therapist for children with autism, but it’s also still quite stressful at times because I’m still learning how to do therapy, and it’s different for each child, so my brain has been getting quite the workout! So has the rest of me, actually, because we often incorporate exercise and games into therapy - playing tag with a four year old is hard work!

Anywhoo, not to make the holiday weekend all about the weekend and not also about the holiday. I have always liked Thanksgiving because of it’s historic background of the Native Americans and the pilgrims sitting down together for a nice big ol’ feast once the harvest (of crops the N.A.’s had to teach the pilgrims how to grow so they wouldn’t starve, sigh, part of me has always thought that the N.A.’s would have been better off if they’d just let them starve because it might have made following prospective pilgrims less likely to trot on over to the New World and annihilate entire populations and cultures etc) umm… where was I. Oh yeah. I like the holiday because it reminds me of a time when most people raised their own food, lived off the land, and had a simpler life… That and it’s about FOOD!!!

So obviously I don’t eat any turkey, since I’m a vegetarian, but please don’t pity me because there’s tons of other yummy stuff to eat… and in fact, since I can’t eat the turkey, I get MORE dessert!! So, Happy Dessert Day!!!!! Yay!! :)
