We’ve Had a Baby!

A very fuzzy, wiggly, happy baby with a tail that wags 90 miles an hour, that is. And let me tell you, he will be quite enough for us for a looooong time in the baby department. I am soooo tired! Mike and I brought home our new puppy Ampersand on Saturday, and he is just a bundle full of fun! He’s a seven week old golden retriever, and a lovely blondish red color - for an adorable pic of the adorable pup check out Mike’s blog. He’s very affectionate and curious and excited about everthing that goes on. He runs around one minute like he’s got ADHD, and then falls asleep the next like a puppy narcoleptic. He likes to chew on EVERYTHING, but most especially shoes and clothes, and MOST especially those attached to us, his humans. We’re setting up a webcam soon so we can keep an eye on him while we’re at work during the day. Yet another example of how handy it is to have a computer gee-I mean, genius, in residence. Bonsai is taking Amersand’s arrival rather well - as in, he’s still alive and unscarred. She’s hissed at him a time or two, but seems pretty curious about him as well - when he collapses with puppy exhaustion on the rug she’ll go over sometimes and give him a sniff. We’re making sure that she still feels loved! Of course, she gets to sleep inside on our bed, and he doesn’t, so I think that makes up for an awful lot!

p.s. We solemnly vow not to be annoying puppy “parents” who act as though our dog really is a child. He sleeps outside (gasp) and we do NOT refer to ourselves as “Mommy” and “Daddy”, and we will not go visit people and talk about how we home “our baby” is doing ok without us. At least, we’ll try to restrain ourselves :).
