Vacation
Mike and I drove down to southern Idaho last weekend to visit our awesome friends Sarah and Bill. It was our first vacation together since we’ve moved up to Northern Idaho (almost a year) and it was great! to get away. Mike is definitely my favorite person to be stuck in a car with for 8 hours. After 6 years together he still surprises me with how funny he is.
It was a bit odd to be back in the Boise area again. When we were down there we mostly missed northern idaho a lot, and I had lots of issues with the traffic, pollution, smell, desert, heat, inversion, and lack of pretty lake regions. But when we got there last Friday I realized there were lots of things I was looking forward to seeing again! The most of course being Sarah and Bill… we miss you guys :(. I also was excited to go to Mai Thai, and Bardenays, and hike in the foothills, and go to Old Navy with Sarah. We have an Old Navy in Spokane, but I can’t go with Sarah, so it’s just not the same. I got to see some old professors, and other people I’d known, and that was cool! When I graduated from ACI i was so burnt out and ready to be done that I never really missed it much but I have to admit to getting pretty nostalgic when I went back.
Vacations are awesome! We hung out a lot, went on a picnic in the Boise park, hiked, watched TV, stayed up late, ate entirely too much food, and saw some good movies at the ol’ Nampa discount theater. When we got back I was totally rejuvenated and relaxed and ready to go back to work. It helped that work was only for 3 days this week since we got back on Tuesday :). I could work three day work weeks all the time and be completely happy! That is, if I got paid the same amount, of course.
In other news, Mike and I bought an old boat this winter, and Mike spent his vacation before we left fixing it up. the evening before we went we went on it’s maiden voyage around the bay and it was great! She ran, although a bit slower than we were expecting (she still needs some work) and we made it back without paddling! Probably because Mike’s cousins came along with an electric motor, but we didn’t actually need it. You know that if they hadn’t brought it our motor would have totally crapped out.
So everyone needs to come visit us and we’ll take you on boat rides :D.
