He he he…
On the way back from Wyoming, on a drive of 700+ miles, my dad and I were listening to an audio book about Australia by Bill Bryson, a travel writer. He related a story told to him by a friend of his, and it was the FUNNIEST thing I’d heard for 500 miles. Especially because my dad is a carpenter (which will have more import after you read the story). So….
Some people buy an empty lot in some town in Australia at some point in the past, and hire a crew to build a house on the lot. Next door lives a little girl about 3 years old, who’s bored and starts hanging about watching the builders. They take her under their wing and make her kind of their mascot, giving her little odd jobs to do. At the end of the week they give her a pay stub (except it’s called something else in Australia that I can’t remember) and half a crown (for whatever that’s worth). She and her mom go down to the bank to deposit it and the teller asks the girl, “how does a little girl like you end up with half a crown?” and the little girl responds, “I was building a house this week”. The teller asks with a humoring smile, “and will you be building a house next week, too?”. To that the girl replies, “I will if we ever get the fucking bricks in!”
Hahahahaha!!!! He he. Oh my… whew. Too funny.
