Into the Deep End

Mike and I bought a quarter acre lot of land in Bayview last April, and have been waiting ever since to be able to build it. We had issues with the permit for 4+ months, and finally got that and then our contractor said he didn’t have time to build it but had an associate who could. So we switched contractors, which led to a few other issues, but NOW, yesterday, we are officially BUILDING A HOUSE. holy sheet. They started excavating the foundation area, cut down more trees, and hauled a bunch of dirt away. It looks different to say the least. It’s hugely exciting and almost equally stressful, because this is going to be a lot of money and a lot of decisions, and a bit of a lifestyle adjustment. But it’ll definitely be worth it in the end to have a real home. I haven’t felt like I had a true home since I left my parents’ house to go to college 5 years ago. “home” has been dorm rooms, apartments, rental houses and the like, and none of them feel all the way like home.

So now if i post even less I’ll have an excellent excuse why!

Keep your eyes out for pics documenting the progress.
