Seattle

Mike and I spent last weekend in Seattle, for the main purpose of attending a friend’s wedding. Mike was a groomsman, and for those of you in the “friends and family” group (let me know if you’re not and should be!) there is an awfully good picture of Mike in a tux on his Flickr postings (also can be found from his latest blog post). It was a great wedding, with fun people and lots of food and entertainment. Made me all teary eyed (just a bit!) and nostalgic for Mike’s and my wedding.
I’d never been to Seattle before, other than in the airport, and it was neat! I’m not much of a city person, but this was very cool. It’s the greenest city I’ve ever seen, with trees, bushes, and vines everywhere, including all over freeway overpasses. There’s WAY more Starbucks and other coffee places than you could possible ever need, including Starbucks with 24 hour drive throughs! I’d been trying to get unaddicted to coffee but I think I failed while I was there - yesterday I was getting a caffeine headache because i hadn’t had anything for two days. If I lived in Seattle I wouldn’t even try though - a nice warm caffeinated beverage sure does the trick for your mood when it’s drizzly and cold and damp over there.
Some highlights of the trip included going to IKEA to look at cabinets for our house (SO COOL!!!) (us), shopping at the Old Navy flagship store, whatever that means (me), and going to the Apple store (Mike). And the very best part was getting to see friends from college, Arzhang and Dave. We got to zoom around the city with them looking at the sights and catching up on each others lives, and in general having a great time!
