Vacation weekend #2

I like vacations! This weekend I flew down to California for my grandma’s 80th birthday party, which was fun and memorable. I was only gone 3 days, and 2 of those were spent primarily traveling, so it was a quick trip but with lots of stuff packed in too. I’ve decided that i’d much rather be in a car for 4 hours than in an airplane.

Things I don’t like about airplanes:
The stale air Sitting next to people you dont know and don’t want to do Feeling like a sardine Turbulence during the descent that makes my poor stomach very unhappy Stupid peanuts Long slow lines getting on, sitting down, for the bathroom, getting off the plane The fact that my traveling day consisted of 2 hours, tops, of actual flying, and 4 hours of driving to/from the airport, going through security, sitting, waiting, standing etc If I had lots of money i’d so love to fly around

Things I do like about airplanes/flying:
The view, if it’s clear. Wow that’s cool. Especially when you can recognize specific landmarks. Once I flew right over Bayview. I wanted to jump out and parachute down. 6 hours of stupid traveling is better than the 18 it would have taken to drive. That’s for sure. Even though I know I paid for them, I really like getting served “free” juice and soda drinks. Airports. I’ve been in at least 20 different airports. They’re kind of like quicky cultural tours of the nearby area, with neat food places, and expensive stores, and diverse people. And sometimes little flocks of tricky birds that fly around the ceiling girders, like in Denver. The best part about airports though? Running into people you know unexpectedly. Today I was walking to my gate in the Reno airport, and I hear my name being called. I assumed at first it was a different Cassie, but after I looked around, what did i see? Bill and Sarah on the way back to Boise from their honeymoon! They were waiting for the same flight as me, though I continued on to Spokane when they got off. We sat and chatted and it was great! I’ve seen tons of people I recognize and kind of remember, especially in the spokane airport, but never someone I knew that well (or liked that much, for the matter). That was very cool.

I wanted to post a few pictures of my grandma’s house and its setting because it’s just gorgeous, but a certain cutie someone appears to have taken the card reader with him to Seattle on his tech weekend extravaganza. That’s a tough word to type! Wow. Extravaganza. huh. still hard that time too. Extravaganza. Ooh, that time I did it without looking. Still slow though.

Pictures will have to come later. I also took video, although only people who were there (or should have been) will get to see that. Others get to see the 15 minutes of tape where I left the camera recording without meaning to, with the lens cap on. Sigh. Not the first time that’s happened to be, i have to admit.

Good thing it’s so easy to edit video on my new computer! That’s right, I get a new computer. A gorgeous 20 inch iMac (crap, at least I think that’s what it is) that I “adopted” or “rescued” from the “old” technology shelter. Also known as Mike got a cool PowerMacProBook laptop thingy (i know that’s not exactly what it’s called, but close enough :) and I get the iMac! Yay! Now i don’t have to sneak in to use it when Mike’s in the bathroom! Yippee! I already changed the wallpaper on the desktop to a picture of a pink flower. Hehe.

Now i’m going to bed. So sleepy. Puppy and I talked about it, and he wants to sleep inside. Yep yep.
