Quirks
We all have little things we do that drive other people nuts, and we all certainly have things that others do that always annoy the heck out of us. What is interesting is when the two are the same thing, and we do it ourselves, bugging others to no end, and don’t know what the big deal is when they get upset at us. And yet when someone does that same thing to us we go off our rocker.
For example - I always read over Mike’s shoulder. When he’s surfing, emailing, instant messaging (especially then), reading something etc. And he usually gets a bit annoyed at me, and I usually don’t get what the big deal is, and somewhat offended at his annoyance at me.
Tonight I was working on a difficult to type email for work when he came in and looked right over my shoulder, nose two inches from the monitor (because he’d already removed his contacts I realize now), and said “are you still emailing?” I snapped at him instantly, without warning, and in a not very nice way at all “PLEASE DON’T READ OVER MY SHOULDER WHEN IT’S PRIVATE EMAILS FOR WORK!!!!!” with I’m sure a horrific scowl. He left. And I’m left to ponder why it is I can do something to him all the time and not validate his feelings of annoyance about it and then be terribly bothered by it myself. No excuse for it really. If it happens agains it proves I’m an idiot who can’t learn anything.
Anyone else find themselves annoyed by and annoying others with a similar habit? Think about it while I go apologize most profusely and beg for undeserved forgiveness.
