wahoo!!

Mike and I have been going to Trivia Night at McDuff’s pub in Sandpoint every Tuesday night for about the last two months. We go with some of his coworkers and their s.o.’s, eat way too much good food (especially their croquettes - fried balls of potato cheesy goodness!) and try to win the trivia contest. The way it works is each team tries to answer the most questions correctly, with 7 rounds of 5 questions each. You write the answers down on paper and turn it in and they correct them and total up your points. The very first time we went we almost won, and were then all confident and such, and never did as well again after that. Until tonight! We started out pretty shoddy (only 2 of 5 questions right the first round) and then we kept creeping up the score board until we were tied for first, and then, on the second to last round, ahead by one point! I was so wishing we could have quit right then and claimed our prize. Then the final round - the first question was a doozy, “what is the name of the youngest Von Trapp child?” and we had no idea, so we made something up. The rest of the questions we felt better about (there’s always lots of second guessing - I think we rehashed every missed question of the night that we’d changed our answer on and then gotten wrong, while waiting for this last round to be scored) although we weren’t feeling overly assured of the win. And then…. the scores were posted and we had won! By one point! To make it more fun, there are so many teams playing now that the writing is so small on the screen that we could hardly read it. But after a moment of squinting we were assured, our team was on top of the list!

Grand Prize: a $20 gift certificate. yummy. and, lots and lots of good times.
