Back in the land of the snow

I just realized that it’s Wednesday, and I haven’t blogged about my Florida vacation yet. So here it is.

Florida is awesome! I had a great time. Lots of beach, sun, polo watching, a yacht ride (almost got seasick), eating out, shopping, reading books (7? 8?), hanging out with my sisters, walking in the sunshine instead of driving, hiking in a genuine Florida forest, watching the wind make the palm trees sway.

So basically I didn’t do anything, which was wonderful, although I did struggle a bit with feeling kind of guilty about it. Or not so much guilty.. but I did nothing productive the whole time, and in a way I think I would almost have enjoyed an afternoon laying on the beach reading if I’d worked in the morning. Leisure is a comparison thing apparently - it’s wonderful, but even more appreciated when compared to work. I just reminded myself of work, and then I felt better, but I still spend some time feeling annoyed at myself because I couldn’t just laze around all the time without it feeling a little weird. I used to when I was younger, but apparently this is what working for a living does to you. Ah well.

I’ll post some pictures to Flickr soon. I already posted some from my phone. (I have to explain that so when you look at them you’ll realize that’s why their not of a very good quality).

In summary though, vacations rock. Especially ones where you go see different places, different nature, different people. It’s addictive - now I want to go on more! I’m thinking Canada weekend, go to the Oregon coast, visit friends in Seattle or Boise…. It’s great to see and do new things. I’d almost forgotten how much fun that is in the last few years. But now I’ll make a much bigger effort to get out more.
