Ahh, weekend…
This weekend was the perfect blend of productivity and fun stuff. It doesn’t often happen that way - usually I plan too much stuff, or not enough, and on Sunday night I feel like I didn’t get done what I wanted to, like I either wasted my weekend or need a whole extra day off. I know I always feel there’s never enough time (or energy) to do all that I’d like to, which is something I wrestle with accepting. But this weekend I had minimal plans, and the weather was gorgeous, and in the end it was a very nice weekend! I think the longer days have a lot to do with it - I must have solar panels built in, because I have a lot more energy when the days are long and sunny.
This weekend I:
Went biking/hiking with some friends
Moseyed around Sandpoint Farmers Market buying plants and flowers and such (one of my very favorite activities)
Went to a nursery with my mom and sister and bought her Mother’s Day flowers
Had dinner at the grandparents
Watched Dharma and Greg episodes on DVD
Went for Sunday breakfast at the grandparents
Biked in the park with my mom, sister, and nephew. He fell off and skinned his elbow and I had to bandage him up. Lucky for him Mike bought Neosporin or I’d have had to subject him to smelly Calendula ointment (which works much better anyway…)
Drove our new truck to Athol to fill up with gas since the gas light had been on for a little too long for my comfort. And after filling up, decided that I need to buy a hybrid for my car to balance things out. Eek.
Planted the flowers I’d bought in the flower bed in front of my house. While turning over the soil I discovered where Mike puts the nightcrawlers he has leftover after fishing. Very very scary.
Helped Mike with more yard stuff, like pulling up grass from the cracks in our brick walkway.
Stopped for ice cream sundaes at Ralph’s Bayview Espresso Bar (it’s called something like that) and sat on the patio looking at the lake, talking to tourists and feeling pretty damn fortunate to live where we do. Even if the gas bill is prohibitive.
Sat on the front steps and ate chips and salsa with Mike.
Watched Mike try to teach Ampersand how to roll over on command.
Cleaned up the house a bit, sweeping and taking out trash and such.
Watched Curse of the Golden Flower. Weird. Kind of lost its touch there at the end or something.
Blogged while Mike sent me links to cute bunny pictures and my sister snored in the comfy chair in the living room.
I heard somewhere a day like this being called “A rich, full day”. That’s what this was, on both days. Full of mundane, homeowner North Idaho type moments. And I’m thankful.
I was going to say something else, but I forget what now, because Mike keeps sending me links to Flickr pics and I can’t multitask anymore. Oh well.
